
Sheril Kirshenbaum
Dr. Sheril Kirshenbaum is an Emmy Award-winning scientist, author, and expert in science communication. She hosts and writes the PBS series Serving Up Science and currently serves as a Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow in the U.S. Senate.
Her research at Michigan State University examines how senior policymakers make decisions on science and policy. She co-authored Unscientific America and wrote The Science of Kissing, exploring the science behind human connection. Her Substack, Unelected Representative, delves into scientific decision-making in Congress.
Sheril co-founded Science Debate and served as Executive Director until 2022. She has advised policymakers, spoken at global events like TEDGlobal, and contributed to Bloomberg, The Atlantic, Science, and Nature. She has been featured on CNN, Fox News, and NPR and holds a Ph.D. in community sustainability with master's degrees in marine biology and policy.
She lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with her family.
